Hiram T. Clary papers, 1862-1889.

Papers include recommendations and official orders concerning positions held by Clary, 1862-1864. A recommendation by Lieutenant Colonel William Hunter advances him as surgeon in the 32nd Illinois Volunteer Infantry Regiment; an order by Colonel John Logan to report to the board of medical examiners effects his promotion as 2nd assistant surgeon for the regiment; orders compel him to report to Pioneer Corps of the 4th Division as medical officer, to Vicksburg, Mississippi, and to Little Rock, Arkansas. Papers include his discharge paper, 1864. Some documents are stamped "Office of Auditor for the War Department." Papers (1886-1889) include a notice from the pension office and a copy of a document admitting Clary to the degree of a master Mason.
